Two complaints have been lodged against Victorian schools accused of bringing politics around the Voice into the classroom.

One of the matters was raised with Victorian Senator Sarah Henderson and prompted the Liberal member to request an address with students about her support for the “no” campaign.

In early August the Victorian Senator asked the principal of St Joseph's College Geelong if she and prominent no campaigner Warren Mundine could address students.“They came and they spoke. We had about 150 mostly senior boys and a handful of staff,” Mr Paatsch told Sky News in an exclusive interview.

In a statement, Geelong College Principal, Dr Peter Miller said he received complaints about the event from the school community. But there has been a lot of correspondence,” Ms Hutchins said.

The comments came two months after Victoria’s Education Department issued guidelines to schools concerning the Voice to Parliament debate.“There are rules and guidance, and I don’t know if it was sparked by any typical incident, it’s a topical issue because we’re having a referendum and we don’t have one of those every year,” Mr Andrews said.

One of the matters raised with Senator Sarah Henderson prompted the Liberal member to request an address with students about her support for the 'No' campaign. Sandringham MP Brad Rowswell sent a letter to Vic Education Minister Natalie Hutchins which included concerns principals have instructed teachers to distribute material for the Yes campaign and to use school noticeboards and walls while declining any briefings or efforts for the No case. Ms Hutchins said she was not aware of a “particular complaint” but said she had received “a lot of correspondence” over the matter. Her office also later told Sky News that Mr Rowswell’s letter had been received but a decision was made not to follow it up as it had come from an Opposition MP.
