The boy is doing well in school and is now playing rugby and cricket.

Angélique and Pierre van Coller from Boksburg are elated that their son, Jandré, is healthy and cancer-free.

In light of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, annually marked in September, the Boksburg Advertiser caught up with Angélique to find out how the brave boy was doing.Doctors in London suggested he should be treated with two types of chemo, peg laspar and nelerabrine, which recently have been approved in the US.

The treatment worked, and Jandré was in remission after a few months. The brave boy then had to undergo a bone marrow transplant on October 30, 2019, to ensure his health stays in good condition.“This is a big milestone. Jandré is cancer-free. Even his lungs, which he was struggling with, are better now. I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know him,” she pointed out.“He is thriving at school academically and also doing sports such as rugby and cricket.
