SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Despite being Sex Education's main love line, Maeve was simply never Otis' true love. Sex Education ended its four-season run by giving its inaugural couple a definitive ending After years of being trapped in a will-they/won't-they dynamic, Sex Education season 3 finally brought Otis and Maeve together.
Maeve and Otis' fate was one of the biggest mysteries left in Sex Education season 3, and because of this, there was anxious anticipation on how their story would pan out in season 4. After trying to make a long-distance set-up work, Maeve's return to Moordale in light of her mother's passing offered the show the opportunity to do a full-blown romance between the pair. It was something that Sex Education hadn't had the chance to do until that point.
The fact that Otis didn't even know how to properly console Maeve while she grieved for her mother showed that they didn't really know each other. Making it worse was Isaac being able to easily connect to Maeve in a way that her own boyfriend couldn't. Similarly, Maeve was also clueless about how to help Otis while he struggled with his intimacy issues. Instead, their appeal was based on their push-and-pull dynamic that Sex Education leaned on for years.
Sex Education Season 4 Shows Ruby Is Otis' Perfect Partner With Maeve now officially out of his life, Otis can finally see the truth about who he really should be with — Ruby, Sex Education's best character. The pair dated briefly in season 3, but they eventually broke up because he was hung up on Maeve. Their reunion in season 4, however, makes it clear that they were perfect for each other. They didn't have any issues communicating, or even during intimacy.
