FULL INTERVIEW: Australian National University’s Brad Tucker says a SpaceX test flight this weekend will be the first test for private companies to prove they can carry people into space, rather than just cargo.

The astrophysicist has told Sky News that America has been relying on Russia’s prolific Soyuz capsule to get its astronauts into space since NASA's Space Shuttle program was retired in 2011. With any luck, Dr Tucker says two US astronauts training to board the SpaceX craft will shoot for the International Space Station in April. SpaceX’s Crew Dragon will launch on Sunday with a spacesuit-clad dummy.
