A much loved sports teacher has died following a tragic crash at Australia's most popular snow destination.

Jonas Stoebe, 55, was leading a school snow tour on September 6 when he crashed on a mountain at Perisher in NSW's Snowy Mountains.

Mr Stoebe was the head of Sport & PE at Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School in Sydney's lower north shore, and had been leading a school group of Year 9 and 11 students. Almost $250,000 has been raised for Mr Stoebe's partner Belinda and their two sons Lio, 12 and Luca, 9. "Jonas was more than just an educator; he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him," the school wrote.
