UPDATE: The lockdown of Camp Hill School District buildings was lifted shortly before 11 a.m., according to the district website.The Camp Hill School District is under a shelter-in-place order, according to a message sent to parents Thursday morning andCumberland County spokeswoman Samantha Krepps said the school lockdown was due to an ongoing investigation for a wanted person in the Camp Hill area.
As a precaution, local officials issued a lockdown for Camp Hill Borough Schools and Washington Heights Elementary in Lemoyne, Krepps said. Superintendent Daniel Serfass said county officials told the district to shelter in place around 10 a.m. Building administrators are coordinating students’ arrival throughout the shelter-in-place, and students who are at home should stay there.Camp Hill Borough Police said the shelter-in-place order was set due to an active investigation and that it would issue a statement after the investigation is over.
