Punit Choubey, the food bank’s president, said they’ve served over 200 hampers in less than two weeks, but before the COVID-19 pandemic, 200 hampers were typical for one month.“We are open to all students, but typically, we serve international students. Right now, we’re serving about 250 hampers, not even halfway through the entire month.”Memorial has limited on-campus housing options.
Off-campus housing is another primary concern. MUN doesn't have an off-campus housing office like many other universities. "Every semester, the office gets calls from international students who have been evicted from apartments and are locked out, or they are renting a place with no heat and needing repairs."
