The former teenage girlfriend of Chris Dawson claims the State of New South Wales breached a duty of care over an "inappropriate and sexually abusive" relationship with her ex-teacher.Two school friends allegedly raised concerns about the relationship with the school principalThe woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is suing for negligence in a civil case seeking damages, costs and interest.
In a statement of claim filed in the NSW Supreme Court, the woman said she was sexually abused by Dawson towards the end of 1980, at his parents' home. The court documents stated Dawson gave her "love notes" during class, spent a significant amount of time in his office with her with the door closed, and that two friends raised concerns about the relationship with the principal.She alleged she was subject to further abuse, including being made to dress in her school uniform "for the sexual gratification and enjoyment of Dawson".
In its defence, the State denied that a duty of care extended to any time the woman was in Dawson's company outside school hours.
