Families affected by maternity failures at Nottingham hospitals have welcomed a 'long-awaited' police investigation. Nottinghamshire Police said they were preparing inquiries following a meeting between Chief Constable Kate Meynell and senior midwife Donna Ockenden.
"They have been asked by us to take definitive action and they absolutely refused. That's going to be investigated by police. We are just so very grateful to have been heard [by the police]. There can't have been this much harm and the police not be involved, it's absolutely right they are. "There will be a wealth of information from victim families for her team to use. A large number of us have alleged crimes and we will be sharing our evidence with the police to assist them with their investigations. There has been poor maternity care as well as poor investigation of that care at NUH Trust over many years."
