KUCHING, Sept 6 — Sarawak Deputy Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is a medical doctor by training, came to the rescue of a woman who was having breathing difficulty while on a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the woman was having asthmatic attack and required either an inhaler or nebuliser to breathe normally.“After that I have to make four copies of the medical report,” Dr Annuar wrote on his Facebook page. Relating the incident, he said while on a flight, a stewardess suddenly made an announcement asking if there was any medical doctor on board. He said he came forward, identified himself as a medical doctor and asked what he could do to help.
Dr Annuar said the steward asked him to prove himself that he was really a medical doctor, not a PhD doctor. He said he told the stewardess that doctors do not have an identity card to show they are medical doctors. He said the stewardess then told him that there was a patient on board the aircraft having difficulty in breathing.“She needed an inhaler or nebuliser. Luckily there was a passenger with an inhaler. After many puffs, the patient was still gasping for breath and thank God the plane’s emergency kits are complete with nebuliser.
