The incident is being treated as “assault causing harm”, which is on the upper end of the scale of violence, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries. Investigators at Clondalkin Garda station had made a particular appeal to a number of people who went to the victim’s aid immediately after the incident. No arrests have been made to date, though the investigation is ongoing and the scene of the attack has been forensically examined.
The assault occurred on Monday evening at Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, close to the Cherrywood entrance, at about 7.30pm. The victim, who is in his 30s, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment.
