So treating everyone equally is. . . racist? 🤨

White Progressive's Burden

I feel sick. the joke about liberal whites being the worst racists, looking down on black people, seems to be true

So, not only you're advocating official racial discrimination, but you're also saying that, if universities don't over-grade black students, they can't succeed? Being racist twice, and it's just the title. BRAVO!

So, you want future employers to look at the degree and then look at the degree-holder’s face and decide how likely it is that he or she earned it.

Stormfront is loving this headline...

Didn't think Guardian thought so little of black people that it literally believes they can't make good decent grades in schools who's only interest is taking your money

Have you guys completely lost your minds?!? Lacking integrity in journalism (or lacking journalism for that matter) is one thing. This, is just idiotic or even worse, pathetic, if the goal is clicks

Identity politics gone wrong... SJWs are getting crazier each year

Is Steven Spier just another privately educated middle class white boy?

Inclusiveness and muslims? Steven Spier must be a fool.

Maybe we should work on the inclusivity earlier on in education so when the time comes for university everyone is on an equal footing?

This can’t be a real article. This must be satire. Please tell me this is satire. When you admit unqualified students to attain race quotas this will likely result in those students not performing as well as qualified students. Seems pretty obvious.

Even the thick ones?

In that case so should all students that get lower grades than they expected. Why ?bring out the race card, perhaps they where not up to the job and deserved that lower grade, you cannot give people higher grades because of their colour it should be on ability.

Can I just say how unhelpful I find this headline to be? Firstly, the writer of the article is saying something much more nuanced than it implies and secondly, it comes across as click baiting for the sake of angry views and at the expense of black people. Not a good look.

No! it should give grades on hard work and ability !! regardless of colour or creed ! otherwise its pointless !

If you are just pushing students “through the door” then don’t you think that maybe that’s got something to do with poor grades? Urgh I hate these kind of articles. Just make the education better for everyone and individuals will stand or fall on their own merit!

66% of BAME students achieve first class degrees compare to 80% for white students!!. This racist disease runs deeper than could ever be imagined. It is a sad commentary that even universities cannot escape from this syndrome. Pity. Telling.

If some uni s are offering 75% unconditional offerings you are likely to have this fail number in certain communities

I'm all for an equal and diverse society, but shifting the blame for poor academic outcomes onto Universities rather than the BAME students is nonsense. Making excuses for students based on ethnicity seems rather racist to me.

This beggars belief. ''Award grades on the basis of ethnicity' says VC of failing university'. Fixed the headline for you.

Lighten up people.

So basically your hour long essay can be summed up in the following ....You want to drop standards for blacks to get them thru the door ? ...Can't wait for the unqualified low grade doctors and pilots to hit the street

Steven Spier is selling inclusivity bullshit iso addressing the real question of freedom surviving islam. That's what universities have to work on. Giovanni Sartori: 'Integrating Muslim Immigrants is IMPOSSIBLE'

That’s the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard. How is that treating everyone as equal? How would you feel to get good marks just because of your colour? And where is the evidence that anyone is graded according to their colour?

Erm,

Completely agree. In fact black people should get automatic passes. In fact hopefully one day we will have progressed enough where everyone gets their grades based on the colour of their skin. Then we would have truly ended racism.

Such nonsense

Utter bollocks!!!

That headline was so stupid that I would have not clicked it if it wasn't for humpsmith comment below - you really need to stop the clickbait silliness

I had to double check this wasn't the parody account. Again.

My (Caucasian assigned at birth) children already self identify as black, so by the time they go uni, they’ll be guaranteed the top grades that you demand.

No. Universities should be judged on the quality of the teaching they provide & students should be assessed on the work they produce, regardless of colour, class, gender etc.

‘is not enough just to get students through the door’ The crusading ego can never be satisfied, concessions only inflate the sense of entitlement.

This is literally one of the most stupid ideas I've heard in a while Gaming anyone?

White people should be given a 10 metre head start when competing in the 100 metres.

The grades are graded from completed tests, what you gonna call for next, lowering our standard of education so dumb people can get degrees? Yea that will work. Stop tryin trying to change the country's culture and education standard that gave you the opportunity to live here.

'Just 66% of BAME students achieved a first or 2:1 degree in 2016-17, compared to 79.6% of white students'. Conclusion: BAME students are not working quite as hard as their white counterparts and need to up their game a little to close the attainment gap.

Absurd

awosss

What a silly clickbait headline to an interesting article

It helps nobody giving extra marks based on colour rather than merit.
