In a quest to eliminate polio, dozens of adventurers begin a more than 7,000-mile journey from Downtown Anchorage to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Monday morning. The event is called the Alaska to Mexico Marathon.
Motorists will drive 75 vehicles for the cause. In addition to the money they plan to raise from the drive, they've already raised $35,000 on their website, with a much higher goal. The rally started at 7 a.m. Drivers will depart Anchorage in five-minute intervals.
