The Safe School Initiative is a programme by the Federal Government aimed at protecting schoolchildren against all forms of insecurity across the country.
Speaking during a workshop for Safe School instructors and facilitators on Monday in Abuja, Audi said the decentralisation was to ensure the training got to the local government areas, where many of the affected schools are. He also said this would allow the participation of some members of the host communities, adding that the training would empower them to contribute their quota to the protection of schools in their communities.
He said, “I directed the Commander of the Centre for the immediate devolution of some training programmes to regional, state, and local levels. This arrangement is a deliberate attempt to decentralise training from Abuja to states and local governments, where the majority of schools are situated.
