STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSSYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton University will officially unveil renovations to its MacDonald Resident during welcome week at the university Sept. 2-9.“Ensuring there are safe and affordable housing options for our students remain a priority,” CBU president David Dingwall said in a press release.

“We know there’s more work to do but we are very pleased to add these 111 beds to our on-campus options. This increase will allow our students to live on-campus where they can further enrich their student experience.”Renovations also include the construction of communal kitchens. “Students want to be able to cook their own meals, their own way,” said Doug Connors, director of housing and ancillary services at CBU.

“This renovation allows for them to do that safely and removes the requirement to purchase a full meal plan in this residence, making it even more cost-effective.” The university also continues to pursue other housing options both on and off-campus, a press release states.
