CAPE TOWN - The portfolio committee on Basic Education on Tuesday was forced to adjourn its meeting on the contentious Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill after members of Parliament walked out.
The bill divided parties, with most opposition MPs rejecting the draft legislation that sought to amend the South African Schools Act and the Employment of Educators Act. It was also scheduled to receive a presentation from the department on the financial implications of the bill.
