Teachers could get state tax break for buying their own school supplies in Ohio

It’s disgraceful that teachers need to buy their own supplies! One year I got ONE red/blue pencil & half a box of staples as my school paid for supplies for the year! The rest I bought. $250 is a joke!

How about $1000 they easily spend that just on essentials

What about the parent whom spends the same after already paying school taxes, sends in school fees, and has to rearrange work schedule every other week for teacher in service days?

Ridiculous that teachers need the tax deduction. School boards nationwide are guilty of underpaying teachers.

With trumps standard deduction the paltry $250-500 school allowance really means nothing

This is what GOP lawmakers should really do, supporting the real Americans, not Putin's Americans.

I’m sure most teachers spend a lot more than $500 of their own $$ every year on supplies that schools should be paying for!

Give more money to schools for teachers to buy supplies for classrooms, this way they don't have to spend their own money.

or OR get this. You could properly fund public schools.
