They do not know if he was armed.About 3:15 am., someone called San Diego police after spotting the two men “tampering with vehicles, breaking into vehicles,” sheriff’s Homicide Lt. Joseph Jarjura told reporters, including OnScene TV.
Police arrived at the site, an apartment complex on Lebon Drive south of Nobel Drive, and found two men in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Jarjura said. Jarjura said the initial investigation indicates the fleeing driver turned around and opened fire on the pursuing officers. The shooter went down. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and took the man to a hospital.
