Councillors approved proposals to extend Our Lady of Lourdes Primary this week.
The development will see a single-storey extension being built that will include three extra classrooms, over-cladding of external walls and roof, a nursery playground extension with fencing, the installation of air source heat pumps, a new pedestrian entrance consisting of stairs and ramps and ten new electric car charging stations within the existing car park.
The proposal also seeks to reduce carbon consumption by replacing existing gas boilers with air source heat pumps.School pupils who attend or are expected to attend Our Lady of Lourdes Primary will be temporarily shifted to Jackton Primary in the new school year beginning in August 2023, as that is when work on the refurbishment will begin.
Nursery pupils who attend Our Lady of Lourdes’ nursery classes will be accommodated at the new Kilbryde Early Learning and Child Care Centre.
