Find out what to expect from the Acorns, who finished in a three-way tie for first place last season. While they have a strong defense, they will need to fill key positions on offense, including the loss of RB Jordan Fuentes, the co-MVP of the division.

After finishing in a three-way tie for first place last season, the Acorns have a fast, physical and experienced defense. But they need to replace key personnel on offense, including the Mt. Hamilton co-MVP, RB Jordan Fuentes. Senior, the league’s defensive lineman of the year in 2022, is back and “will be a huge player in the league this year,” longtime coach Mike Gemo said. Dietz also plays receiver.

Senior DE/WR, whom Gemo said is a “big-time player on both sides of the ball,” returns after receiving first-team all-league recognition as a junior. Senior, who won the Central Coast Section 100-meter championship in May, is a shutdown defensive back and explosive receiver. Juniorinherits the QB duties after learning from Landon Stump, now at UCLA to play baseball. Senior LB/WRhas gotten bigger and faster than he was last season when he was a first-team all-league pick.
