sallydibben Like John Rambo?

Yes. Fantastic idea.

Seems reasonable to me

AT LONG LAST.....A serious workable solution.

So.. we stop mass shootings, with more guns.. what could possibly go wrong.

I am 100% in favor of this! 🇺🇸👍

This was my 2003 answer to this problem. Actually helps solve military unemployment as well.

Let's hope PTSD doesn't pop up.

PinchandScrimp Awesome, About time!

The Washington Compost = VeryFakeNews

Americans are delusional. This is going to blow up in their faces and I don't think that an argument exist that could change my mind.

Great Ready to gun down the next crazy bastard they looks to harm innocent people. HURAAH!

Great step forward. School shooters are cowards looking to create mayhem without any risk

Absurd. People with no idea of how to act to solve potential problems. Get a new school board!

Way to use buzzwords to intentionally stoke fear and emotion. All glocks are semi-automatic (with the exception of the G18, which is not easy to obtain permits for, or buy). So the rifles have the same action as the pistols? The pistols law enforcement carries? Weird.

🙌🏻

Get teachers that aren't mean and selfish. I was paddled down south by teachers, whacked with rulers, told i would never amount to anything because my native heritage, up here had teachers tackle me in my desk. Slam me into lockers denting them... even bad kids dont deserve that.

elegantcoretta Some Soldiers with possible PTSD or other underling illnesses that they may not be aware of.

Put a gun in the hands of someone who could potentially witness a fistfight amongst children and mistake the violence and loud noise for a combat zone and instinctively shoot everyone in sight? Oooookay.

Not a bad idea.

PassarelliAllan The answer is always more guns with the muzzle nuzzlers.

Ptsd no problemo. Here's ur gun. Here are some kids. Here is a shitty pay check.

I would pull my child out of a school that provided this traumatic experience every day. What a way to grow up.

The problem with combat vets is that they SHOOT, they do not ask questions. I know, that seems to be a problem with the police too. If more money is spent on keeping armed shooters, OUT, it would be safer for kids. I am a vet, and I've been in dozens of firefights. Use brains..

The old “More guns will cause LESS gun violence” theory. /eyeroll

What could possibly go wrong

If you can’t beat them, join them? I’ll bet they’re still opposed to sex ed and birth control.

The crazies with guns are going to see this as a challenge not a deterrant, why? you ask, it's because they're crazy.

Home schooling will b big in Florida

bolero2010 no thank you ...

Awesome!

Leave it to Florida!

God forbid trained and capable individuals protect children. The horror! LeftistLunacy

Shame on theblaze for using a picture of MSD High School in their article about this, as if that was the school in the story. A new low for them, which I didn’t realize was even possible.

So if I'm a mass shooter, am I picking the school where I will be killed trying to enter the school or the school where I'll have 5 to 10 minutes before the cops arrive to murder. Also employment for veterans is a great upside to this story also

Counciling will still be required PTSD happens regardless of who shoots who to a degree.

Land of the free? Prisoners to guns it would seem

Great. - angsty teens paired with combat veterans possible dealing with PSTD - great answer to our problems 🙄

Great. What could possibly go wrong?

Smart move! Those kids are safe!!

Even if the evil one comes w an agenda. Seeing the guardians/peacemakers standing at the door will pull out any hypnotized one sent to hurt our little ones.

Great. Just what we need. PTSD-afflicted gunmen.

Excellent, that would do it!! Cue the snowflakes 3,2,1..

What could possibly go wrong?

I think this is a great idea.

There is no one “answer” to ending school violence. We need to stop thinking that way. A well-constructed plan will include many pieces. Using combat vets could be one piece of that overall plan, not the “answer.” I hope this district is thinking more broadly about school safety.

Sounds like Florida. I notice that sometimes NRA fans laugh when shootings happen where there are strict gun laws - meanwhile, they keep having large mass shootings even with all the guns.

Republicans love the idea of turning public school property into war zones. Armed war weary veterans w/no patience for mouthy teenagers in schools filled with teenagers. What could possibly go wrong? Vegas odds on how many days b/4 a vet murders a student?

More guns aren’t the answer. Besides gun safety, we need to address kids struggling with mental health issues. At most of these school shootings, there have been police and security officers present.

Bezos blog opposes self-defense and the second amendment

Pure stupidity

....better than a cop that hides outside while kids are killed!

Lock down schools n metal detectors! PROTECT OUR KIDS!!

Jeff Stein Verified account SpyTalker Gun accident that killed Marine in barracks doesn’t say much for arming teachers. …

In this 1776 gun disease climate, in the shameful absence of GunControl control, the conclusion is justified, children in the US are insignificant, a throw away article.

Hard pass. Super hard pass.

Florida nooo

KaylaEpstein I think armed competent teachers will work just as well..

That's what LA schools do because of gang violence. Some cities have special police units that do nothing but school safety and enforcement.

Nothing like some vets with ptsd and access/permission to use a firearm when they sense a threat

They might reduce enlistment too with their stories about wrecked knees from paratrooping, getting screwed over recruiter promises, and waiting forever for VA appointments

Arm children.

Florida has disintegrated into a shithole state because of republicans.

Military training is not what we need to solve school shooting.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Cool, can't wait for some student or teacher to be killed or wounded by one of them.... A combat veteran killed Chris Kyle...

Well they’re way less likely to shoot unarmed minorities or randomly beat kids

... because war zones are the BEST for kids, right?

The police state conservatives always wanted

Someone is going to accidentally shoot someone else.

More guns, that’s the solution! Wait till the first innocent bystander is shot by one of these vigilantes

so if I am planning a school shooting why isn't this the first person I shoot, and in the back no less.

Sick.

omg. Many mass shooters are military or ex-military. what could possibly go wrong?

Schools are still statistically among the safest places in the country - far safer than a home with a firearm or two in it. Is the solution really to bring a firearm or ten to school? Maybe for the people who sell them... GunSense GunSenseNow

Too bad Sheriff Isreal didn't have one of those...

Basically a circular firing squad.

How long until one of theses veterans flips out and starts shooting innocent children-adults?

What could possibly go wrong? Said no one ever.

The question is: are they ready to use the weapons if needed?

What a wonderful learning environment...disgraceful

I love it It's about time.

This is an excellent reaction to a problem, not a solution to that problem.

Arming teachers is not the answer. Police presence on campus alters the learning environment and negatively impacts trust with students. Armed civilian “guardians” with combat experience...maybe...maybe that’s a band aide. Common sense gun laws remain our best line of defense.

What possibly could go wrong?🙄

I saw this. Hard to deny facts.

terrihill what would *possibly* go wrong. 🙄

Good solution- We pay armed guards to protect everything else that is precious. Children are worth it👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

What could possibly go wrong? obvious sarcasm

You know it's gonna happen - that ONE school shooting & hired for his weapon expertise, the veteran's PTSD kicks in. They either can't respond or worse, become a random shooter themselves. More guns in schools are NOT the answer. GunReformNOW

America- becoming a 3rd world country one day at a time....

Yeah, makes sense. Let's spend more money in bullshit ways but schools can't afford basic supplies. That's American

You can't stop a shooting with hugs.

What could go wrong?

Awesome

Love it. Can’t wait for them to start protecting more children

I N S A N E.

Maybe some middle ground can be found here. I'd suggest something along the lines of the sky Marshall program, but first schools

It’s worth a shot.

Ban weapons, maybe?

sherrymccarter

'Alright everyone going to Social Studies class this way!'

This is the NRA's America. More guns.

Time Traveller 911 Call. Dogs are men's best friends. Which mom feels less pain when cub/son/kid/baby is felled by 'friendly fire?🥓 'Basket Cases' are army amputees. No man left behind. No fence/wall/border unsecured when it comes 2 holy ribs🌲 the meat

Well, at least it's not teachers with semiautomatic rifles and Glocks...

Florida. Uggh.

Donald Jr. calling teachers “losers” incites violence and disrespect towards us like Trump Sr. citing violence and disrespect against the Media. This has to 🛑 stop 🛑!

It's Florida so I'm sure their own mental state will be an after thought.

Turning schools into war zones. What has become of our America?

Militarization begets further militarization.

And once one of them has a PTSD episode it will get ugly

Hiring people trained to shoot suppressive fire and not snipe individuals to guard a school full of children seems like it could never backfire...

Glock? Did the school make a deal with Glock to specifically use their weapons?

Charter school...which explains much of this.

I love this. ❤️❤️❤️

Nice. Just like schools in war zones. How lovely for the children. What a fine example.

Please explain to me why it’s better to have kids go to school in prison camps than to tackle the gun issue?

What could possibly go wrong here?

What could possibly go wrong?!

And they probably funded it by laying off educators or cutting budgets for resources...

When I went to school, the most dangerous thing I ever saw was a small jack knife. It's sad that it has come to this.

I’m a combat veteran and work in a school. I would quit on the spot if they asked me to do this.

I hope they don’t have PTSD....

Florida seems to never disappoint. 🤯

Oh yay, just wait until one of these guys is triggered by his PTSD.

sure none of those Floridians are actually 'Florida men'

Famously mentally stable combat veterans
