A student was killed as she walked to college after being hit by a speeding driver in a 'souped up' BMW, a jury heard. Omar Choudhury, 22, hit 16-year-old A Level student Alisha Goup on Rochdale Road in Oldham, as she made her way to Oldham College.
He told jurors that Rahman blamed Choudhury for informing his family about a relationship he was having with a woman, which her family 'disapproved' of. Alisha was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after being hit. Choudhury remained and told a police officer: “I was driving down the road and I was going too fast because I was trying to get away, because these men were chasing me with a knife, and now someone has punched me.”
Rahman surrendered to police the following day, and admitted having a baseball bat earlier during the confrontation with Choudhury. Mr Blackshaw said Rahman told police he had a baseball bat for protection because ‘high value vehicles’ were being stolen.
