Grapevine runner Adam Burlison is The Dallas Morning News’ All-Area Boys Track Athlete of the Year. Burlison is a junior who won Class 5A state titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.Adam Burlison, who has a chance next track season to become just the second Texas high school boy to ever break 4 minutes in the mile, has left Grapevine and will be attending Amarillo High for his senior year.
Burlison said Friday that his mother got a new job, which will result in him attending his fourth different high school. He was at Lubbock High as a freshman and Lubbock Coronado as a sophomore.“It was hard [leaving Grapevine] and it wasn’t at the same time,” Burlison said. “My family is from the West Texas and Panhandle area, so in a sense it felt like we were coming back home, but at the same time it is hard leaving Coach [Rick] Miller and my teammates.
