A team of researchers at SMU is studying active, playful learning strategies.A group of researchers at Southern Methodist University may soon document what parents of many children learn every day: Childhood learning comes best through play. SMU is taking part in a five-year study examining how elementary school classrooms can become more playful.

The SMU team, led by Annie Wright, is part of the Simmons School of Education and Human Development. Wright told us the goal of the project is not to create new curricula or more hoops for already-burdened teachers, but to work alongside teachers to develop manageable ways to implement what she called “active, playful learning.
