Obvious that Trots at the Guardian don't want higher education because it would make it harder for them to brainwash the public.

to get a job. Job gives you money. Money is exchanged for goods and services. You're welcome.

So many levels to this question. Kids whose parents live vicariously through them (eg insist they become doctors/lawyers/[insert occupation here] in order to ImpressTheJoneses) live through incredibly sad times.

Further, preference 4 places in education MUST be given 2 citizens: school leavers; 2nd chancers; seekers of lifelong education; ppl retraining 2 meet business needs. It seems many for-profit VET colleges are simply visafactories with NO regulatory oversight. StopTAFECuts 2/2

Couldn't one also ask, what is the point of higher education unless it makes you unhappy? The more you, the more you realise how much you do not know. Is higher education ever going to make a person happier than a 'pig in muck'?

It makes them skilled which (hopefully) enhances their chance for success in their chosen field, which makes them money, which pays for things they need and want, which makes them happy.

That is not the goal of education, it is the goal of a safe space guardian_strikes_again

Lack of liberty of thought and expression or degree of academic autonomy with University doesn't make academic fraternity happy

It makes people money, which is often the best substitute. Happiness is not an arbiter of success.

Fundamentally educational pressure which is related with future job(and profits) is the main problem in my persepctive. Because studying is supposed to be joyful and inspire learners. But the process of learning has been regarded as less important unfortunately. Only achievement!
