So many levels to this question. Kids whose parents live vicariously through them (eg insist they become doctors/lawyers/[insert occupation here] in order to ImpressTheJoneses) live through incredibly sad times.

Couldn't one also ask, what is the point of higher education unless it makes you unhappy? The more you, the more you realise how much you do not know. Is higher education ever going to make a person happier than a 'pig in muck'?
It makes them skilled which (hopefully) enhances their chance for success in their chosen field, which makes them money, which pays for things they need and want, which makes them happy.

Fundamentally educational pressure which is related with future job(and profits) is the main problem in my persepctive. Because studying is supposed to be joyful and inspire learners. But the process of learning has been regarded as less important unfortunately. Only achievement!
