Schools must be increasingly prepared for parents to take their children on term-time breaks as climate change raises the risk of more regular heatwaves and wildfires in Europe during the summer, headteachers have warned connie_dimsdale reports

She said schools must take increasingly hot weather into account as “it’s important for children and adults to have a connection with families that live outside of the UK”.

This is partly due to cheaper prices during the term, and because her children have special educational needs so quieter periods work better for the family.is also a “big factor” in the decision to go away outside of the summer holidays. “It’s just too hot for children and even for adults. Even my parents don’t go out between certain times.

But Barnaby Lenon, head of the Independent Schools Council, said parents taking their children out of school when it is cooler “cannot be allowed”.
