FAIRBANKS, Alaska - For the remainder of July, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly will meet at the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District Administrative Building.
As the Juanita Helms Administrative Center, in the FNSB building at 907 Terminal St., undergoes renovations, the borough assembly will meet in the school board room at the FNSBSD building, on 5th Avenue. Until the end of the month, the Junita Helms Administrative Center will be changing out audio and visual systems with newer equipment. The upgrades come as a long over due task for the borough building, since the administrative center has not had the audio and visual technology replaced since the early 2000s.
Included in the upgrades will be new microphones, new televisions, and new cameras. This will allow the borough to provide residents with easier access to the assembly meetings and better public information displays. Those displays will allow residents who enter the building in the middle of meetings to know what agenda items have already been covered and what items are currently being discussed.
“Currently, the meetings that we are holding for the assembly are being held at the school district administrative building in their boardroom,” said April Trickey, a clerk at the borough building.he school board doesn’t meet in July, so it worked out perfect, where we are able to hold our meetings over there in the school board room.”
