Body of mum discovered outside school as police probe 'suspicious' death

The body of a mum has tragically been discovered outside a school. Emergency crews were called to the footpath beside New Barn Lane in Rochdale, Manchester, at 4.30am on Monday, July 17.

In an update, Rochdale District Commander Chief Superintendent Nicky Porter was keen to stress that "the circumstances in which the lady was found do not relate to that area and the school". Following the shocking discovery on Monday, police taped off an area of footpath near New Barn Lane and remained at the scene throughout the day, with two forensic tents erected within the cordon and forensics conducting investigations.

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith from GMP’s Major Investigation Team said: “I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and our thoughts are with them at this very sad and difficult time. Our team are in the early stages of this investigation, and it is important that we keep an open mind and explore all lines of enquiry at this point.
