Carlee Russell is missing and the details of how that came to be are frightening and downright disturbing.Well, she is the 25-year-old Alabama woman who has been dominating national headlines since she went missing along Interstate 459 in Hoover Thursday night. It would be bad enough if this was a simple missing person’s case, but it is far from that, and the facts as we have them now are terrifying.
The most terrifying aspect of all of this is why Russell pulled her red Mercedes to the shoulder of I-459. The nursing student had just picked up dinner for her family — she reportedly got off work around 8:20 p.m. — and was on the way home when she called police and then her family to let them know that she spotted a toddler walking along the roadway and that she was pulling over to help.
Police said they received the call from Russell at 9:34 p.m. and when they arrived, they said they found her car still running, but there were no signs of Russell or a young child. “Her car door was open,” Talitha Russell told Fox. “They have found her wig and her hat and her cell phone.” Her mother said her purse with her Apple watch and Air Pods were still inside the Mercedes, too.
Hoover Police Lt. Daniel Lowe said at a press conference that “A single witness has reported possibly seeing a gray vehicle with a light complexioned man standing outside Carlee’s vehicle.”
