Weiss, a professor at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, was recognized for his “groundbreaking discoveries in neuroscience that have led to novel approaches in the treatment of brain disorders.”
Crowshoe served with the RCMP for more than 20 years before retiring as a staff sergeant in 2006. He was made an honorary chief of the Piikani Nation in 1997 and currently serves on the National Advisory Council on residential schools, missing children and unmarked burials, according to the organization’s website.
Tidlund’s appointment recognizes her “innovative leadership in the oil and gas industry, and for her transformational philanthropy in Canada and abroad.” While celebrating them, she said “we must also acknowledge that work remains to ensure that Canadian honours better reflect the full diversity of our country.
