An independent assessor appointed by Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande to investigate the affairs of MUT, found there were serious supply chain and contract management issues.A dispute related to a security contract at the Mangosuthu University of Technology resulted in a group of 40 armed men storming the campus earlier this month.

The men, who are employed by a smaller, Umlazi-based security firm, claimed they were entitled to 30% of the value of the contract.
