An educator and union leader, Askey has been a tireless advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and for creating safe spaces for students. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Pennsylvania. Askey serves on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on LGBTQ Affairs. A graduate of the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., Askey has served as an actor, singer, musical director, and board member for Theatre Harrisburg and has performed with several choirs in the Harrisburg area.Pride Month is a time to celebrate our community and reflect on our history.
