The principal of Jones College Prep is retiring, months after he was removed pending a district investigation into a Halloween costume contest that included a student wearing what appeared to be a Nazi uniform.

Powers was removed from the school last November after a video spread on social media showing a Jones College Prep student wearing a military uniform costume while goose-stepping across a stage and saluting during a Halloween costume contest at the school. Students launched protests and told WTTW News the incident was “traumatizing” and made them feel unsafe.
