The story has a few question marks about it. There were no black areas in N. Ireland or the Republic when this allegedly happened. That said if this happened to someone we love we might feel the same way immediately after no matter what our colour, nationality etc.

He was being honest about a horrific moment in his life, at that moment he was racially motivated to seek revenge on his friends rapist. Is he a racist now? I highly doubt it.
