This is how security is accomplished. Banning guns and/or armed guards in school zones has been an utter failure at securing our schools.

Instead of just beefing up security at the expense of enhancing the Education system altogether, this measure seems to be a mitigation to a symptom rather than targeting the real threat which is weapons in the hands of just about anybody including those w/ suspicious background.

'Security Upgrade' or a preview of times to come?

Welcome to my childrens school in Sweden. They spend money on, teachers, excercise, digitally assisted learning, sports field, free fresh and healthy food as well as school healthcare. Well, also a bit on security, they lock the doors during nights & weekends.

Heartening to know that the 'Ivory Tower' is becoming the 'Baghdad Green Zone'.

Pity for the students who have to live under such a regime. This stifles free movement, free expression, and independence. We must instead deal with the underlying culture that leads to violence.

If they really want to secure and save money. I suggest.... Why not do this online and 'home school everyone'? Drop high speed internet (hotspots) and have them do it that way. Save $$$, Buses, staff.. Then mom and dad can keep all the kids, guns and bullets and gravy at home.

I usually post my wsj piece on exaggerating the school shooting danger to question calls for stricter gun control. It works in opposition to this overreaction, too.

It's a dam shame that our Children have to be scared to go to school. Now there is armed guards guarding our schools. Sad that it's gotten to that level of safety.
