Oshawa trustee Linda Stone is withdrawing her legal action against the Durham District School Board (DDSB). The announcement comes after trustees voted to short

. The announcement comes after trustees voted to shorten the length of one of the sanctions against her.

Stone has previously come under fire for posting and sharing tweets that have been described as offensive, particularly to transgender groups. “I would like to announce that I have withdrawn my application for the judicial review with the Durham District School Board and will begin attending committee meetings as of September 1,” she said. “I will once again continue as I have in the past to attend future professional development sessions, including [diversity, equity and inclusion] sessions, similar to the ones I have attended previously.

While Stone remains barred from committee meetings for the meantime, that period has been shortened by four months. On Monday, trustees voted to allow Stone to return to committees starting September 1, rather than December 31.in February, when trustees found that she had breached the Code of Conduct multiple times over the previous two years. She was barred from one board meeting, as well as all committee meetings through the end of the calendar year.
