We have sent a reporter to the scene of the lockdown at Avanti Fields School. Updates will be posted as soon as we get them.In a new email from Avanti Fields School, it has confirmed that some GSCE students arriving this afternoon are being escorted safely on site even though the school is locked down.
It said: GCSE History students who are required to come on site must enter the Thurmaston Lane entrance and be escorted to the school site by members of staff."No updates have been made by the school since initial word of the lockdown at Avanti Fields was imposed. The school has been quick to allay worries though and has repeatedly stressed that "all students are safe".
That information still stands. In a text to parents, the school said: "Please do not contact the school as we need to keep these lines opened. The police have been informed. We will keep you updated."For those who do not know, Avanti Fields School is located in the Hamilton area of Leicester. It is based just off the A563 Hamilton Way and is next to Gateway College in Hamilton too. Keyham Lane Police Station is also close by to the school.
