A new state of the art nursing facility has opened in Austin

held a grand opening Monday of its expansion campus located at 7951 Shoal Creek Blvd.

The campus features 21 beds, a 15-bed skills lab, individual rooms for an intensive care unit, obstetrics, pediatrics, medical surgery, and an operating room. Students who attend will use a combination of high-fidelity mannequins, simulated patients, standardized patients, and other realistic equipment.

The Austin campus will feature Fairfield Egan's full-time, 15-month accelerated second-degree baccalaureate nursing program. "What it allows is for students to practice in a space that's real, it feels real. And then they go out and they are prepared as safe and confident nurses," said Dr. Murcray-Mosca, director of simulation, Fairfield Austin. The first cohort of students were admitted last month, and the second cohort will begin in January.
