EXCLUSIVE — The Governing Majority Education Fund, a group dedicated to supporting centrist Republicans and promoting center-right policy solutions, is launching a six-figure campaign highlighting the spending reductions in the debt ceiling bill and supporting the center-right members who vote for it.
“This debt limit deal, while not perfect, is the product of bipartisan negotiations, and it will ensure that our nation will not default on our obligations while also taking important steps to rein in reckless government spending," Drew Kent, the group’s executive director, said in a statement. “As a compromise plan, members who support this bill will undoubtedly be attacked by extremists and fringe groups from across the ideological spectrum.
More than 20 Republicans have already come out and said they would not support the bill and want to see it fail and start over from scratch. They say they want to see more spending cuts, caps, and conservative priorities in the bill.
