Left-wing actor Tom Hanks pontificated about the importance of telling the truth while addressing this year’s graduates at Harvard University. The speech was ironic coming from Hanks, given his profession, political and ideological allegiances, and the fact that he was receiving an honorary degree from the prestigious Ivy League university.
The problem I had with Hanks’ speech was his lamenting the importance of truth in the country, while, in many ways, he is part of the problem he complained about. Long known as a staunch liberal Democrat, Hanks has said absolutely nothing about much of the Left’s misinformation over the years and often was a willing participant in emanating it.
And, giving his apparent disdain for “malleable truth,” Hanks said nothing after President Joe Biden, Vice-President Kamala Harris, or Dr. Anthony Fauci advanced the misinformation that COVID-19 vaccines would prevent people from getting and spreading the virus. Hanks was also quiet when the aforementioned people essentially proclaimed that anyone who rejected getting the vaccines was an accomplice to murder.
