The Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality council is intent on dramatically raising property tax on premises used for education, from July 1. This includes everything from kindergartens to colleges and universities

According to the council’s latest proposal, a school site valued at R100 million will see its tax increase from R18 900 per month to about R113 400 for public schools and about R190 000 for
