“It does nothing but raise the temperature,” said Christopher Tackett, a Fort Worth-based activist who has for years tracked the influx of religion into Texas public schools. “I needed to live the experience of the Bible,” Malloy says in the film, which is advertised on the school chaplain association’s website. “Jesus chose people of the sea.”
The violence, Malloy said in an email exchange with The Texas Tribune, made him want “to help children live better lives” and learn “the impact of loving, spiritual care.”
