Three Mechanicsburg-area schools are on lockdown Friday after a car crash that led to a police chase, district officials said. Cumberland Valley Ninth Grade Academy, Hampden Elementary, and Sporting Hill Elementary were put on lockdown Friday morning as a precaution after four people ran from the scene of a Hampden Township crash, according to the Cumberland Valley School District.

The school district said no one is allowed in and out of the building, but the school day is continuing under a normal schedule.“We will continue to provide updated information to you as it arrives and are in constant communication local authorities to ensure safety of our students and staff,” the district said in an email to parents.Thursday because of a person struggling with a mental health issue who left home and ran into nearby woods. He was found Thursday afternoon and taken to a hospital.
