The gun fell from the boy's waistband in the school gym, according to police.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged as an adult after school security found him with a loaded handgun at a high school in Prince George’s County on Thursday morning, police said.

The ninth-grade student is charged with handgun on person, dangerous weapon on school property, possession of a firearm by a minor and loaded handgun on person, police said.At about 9:15 a.m., police said they were notified that school security personnel recovered a gun from the student at Non-Traditional Program 9-12 South school in Cheltenham.

According to an initial investigation, the “ghost gun,” an “unserialized ” weapon, fell from the boy’s waistband in the gymnasium, police said.
