Robbery victim thanks supporters

A student who was left with a broken leg after being run over by a car during an attempted robbery in north Dublin has thanked well-wishers for their "amazing" support.

Alfredo, who is an English language student and also works as a tour guide in Dublin city centre, told DublinLive that they were approached by two men in a car who tried to rob them on the Shantalla Road in Beaumont. He said: "I tried to protect my girlfriend at first, and then I resisted the assault. When we tried to escape the man who was in the car ran over me."

Alfredo and his girlfriend were also left "very scared" during the incident, and said that they are still shaken after it. With the support of his friends in Ireland, Alfredo decided to set up a GoFundMe page to help him along in his recovery.
