The San Dieguito Union High School District board has tapped a neighboring district’s leader as its next superintendent, more than a year after firing the last superintendent amid turmoil in the district.of Escondido Union High School District, is set to become the fifth person in three years to lead San Dieguito, contingent on contract negotiations and final board approval May 17.
Staffieri holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Brigham Young University, a master’s in curriculum development from Cal State San Marcos and a bachelor’s from Brigham Young. She is fluent in Spanish.The board also ratified a teacher’s contract, approved raises for several top administrators, and voted to eliminate 11 non-teaching staff positions and reduce the hours of four others
Earlier in the pandemic, Staffieri partnered with Neighborhood Healthcare to provide physical and mental health support to Escondido students and families. More recently, she opened Wellness Centers on multiple EUHSD campuses to offer additional resources to students and staff. “The board was drawn to her forthright leadership style, depth of experience, and passion for the well-being of the SDUHSD community. Educators throughout the county speak highly of her ethics and ability to successfully lead a school district,” Rimga Viskanta, president of the San Dieguito board, said in the release.
