An eight-year-old girl has died after a hit-and-run outside a school in Burlington on Wednesday afternoon.
Halton police said the collision happened in the parking lot between Central High School and Central Public School just after 5:30 p.m. When emergency crews arrived, they located an 8-year-old conscious and breathing, police said. However, her condition deteriorated, and she was pronounced dead in the hospital.But with the help of witnesses who got a licence plate, police later arrested a 21-year-old man.
He has been charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in death. Police said further charges could be laid.
