Along with the return of the school zone, the parent council has requested a four-way stop at the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and 11th Street, and a restriction on vehicles turning from Broadway Avenue onto 11th Street between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.The report to the committee notes the city typically doesn’t put additional safety measures on roads before doing an engineering safety review.
The construction is expected to be completed sometime this summer, but the report notes it’s “unlikely” the detour will be removed and traffic will get back to normal before the next school year. Policy on installing traffic calming measures also requires traffic not be affected by temporary issues like construction or special events.
