Bexar County deputies said four teens were arrested Monday afternoon after a teacher’s vehicle was stolen from West Side school.

The teens were charged with evading arrest, and the driver was booked on an additional charge related to a stolen vehicle. The teens were not identified because they are under 17.Four teens were arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a stolen teacher’s vehicle and car chase near a West Side school.

The teacher called 911 to report her vehicle stolen about 1:45 p.m. Monday near Crockett Academy, the Bexar County Sheriff’s OfficeFueled in part by social media, car thefts in San Antonio have so far risen 60% in 2023 Deputies said they tracked the vehicle, via a device the teacher had installed in it, and found it a few miles from the school.

A deputy subsequently saw the car speeding through an area neighborhood. Deputies placed spike strips, but the driver tried to avoid them and crashed into a parked car. The teens got out and ran through backyards, jumping over fences and hiding beneath houses. A police helicopter spotted them, and all four were apprehended, KENS 5 reported.
