Two primary schools in Ribble Valley have been forced to close after a burst water pipe left them without water.

A spokesperson for Chatburn Primary School said: "There is currently no water in Chatburn and some of the wider Clitheroe area. School cannot open as we have no toilets, washing facilities or the capacity to make dinners."At the moment, there is no indication from United Utilities as to the issue or when the water supply may be restored Sorry for the inconvenience this will cause, but this is entirely beyond our control.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "A burst has been spotted and reported to us on West Bradford Road and we can confirm this to be the cause of no water or low pressure in your area.
